It’s been a roller coaster of a debut season for Eazi-Grip’s Joe Walton, who rounded it off it style last weekend by claiming the Preston & District Motorcycle Club Minitwins championship title.
The North of England based club held their final meeting of the season at the Three Sisters circuit near Wigan, and going into the weekend there was still all to play for with several riders in contention.
Qualifying in 4th place on the ContiRaceAttack Comp shod Suzuki, Joe started the opening race well and jumped up to second place by the end of the opening lap, trying to fight his way in front of Sam Eckersley, who held off Joe’s challenge to take the win.
Consistency, however, has been the key for Joe in his maiden season and a third place in the final race of the season was enough for him to seal his 22nd podium finish and the title. His superb results also saw him take 2nd place in the Newcomers championship.
The team are already looking ahead to next season and considering which championship to enter, so we’re likely to see a new bike in the coming months.
