After a fantastic performance during the opening race weekend of the EMRA Club Championship in the Formula 600 on ContiRaceAttack Comp tyres, Dilligaf Racing and rider Steve Moody arrived at Cadwell Park at the top of the championship standings with two wins from two in the bag.
After the first round of the season Steve’s Honda CBR600 had been fitted with its new ECU and race loom and Steve was eager to get going and put in a superb performance to qualify 4th on the grid, 1st in his Formula 600 class with his closest championship rival just behind.
At the beginning or Race One rival Jon Skelson got off to a great start, with Steve closing the gap all the time. After the race was red flagged following an incident on the mountain the competitors came back for a three lap sprint race and again Skelson took an early lead from the grid. After consistent pressure from Steve, the number #63 rider Skelson made a mistake in the chicane and Steve managed to capitalise and take the lead. Skelson again took the lead in the final lap, but on the last bend Steve again fought back and took the race win with a 1:44.6s lap time on the ContiRaceAttack Comp street legal race tyres. This was also Steve’s first race at Cadwell in 14 years, and he certainly started out in style with a battling win!
The second race again saw Skelson #63 get a good start from the grid, but Steve very quickly took the opportunity to pass last years series champion and wound the throttle back to take a second class win of the day beating Skelson by a convincing 5.9 seconds.
Following the race Steve opened up his lead at the top of the championship standings, and it looks like its going to be a very exciting season for both rider and team! After the celebrations Dilligaf said of the ContiRaceAttack Comp that they are a “great set of tyres that once again performed faultlessly with both grip and durability”.
