The 4th round of the Thundersport GB series came to Cadwell Park at the end of May, with Connor Tagg #100 of the Knight Road Racing Team running in the three GP1 races over the course of the Sunday and Monday on ContiRaceAttack Slick tyres.
After succumbing to a technical fault at the previous meeting in Norfolk at Snetterton, Connor was eager to pick up points and put in a strong qualifying time on a set of ContiRaceAttack Slicks used in a previous round which saw him start on the second row of the grid. Getting off to a great start in the first race of the weekend Connor moved up to 3rd overall before the front start to slowly lose pressure which led to a small mistake which let two riders slip by, leaving him 5th overall but with a superb 2nd in class podium and plenty more racing to come on the Monday.
With a new set of ContiRaceAttack Slick tyres fitted to the stock bike for the Monday morning Connor again lined up on the second row of the grid and again he became embroiled in a fight with riders at the front of the field before involved in a game of cat and mouse with Peter Baker in the final laps to take another 2nd in class podium.
In the final race of the day Connor took the hole shot from the start, trying a tighter line into the 2nd corner at Cadwell sitting in 4th place overall in another exciting cat and mouse scenario with Peter Baker and Connor exchanging positions with Connor finishing 4th overall with another 2nd in class podium to add to his haul for the weekend.
Both team and rider get a well-earned break now between rounds with the action returning on 20th & 21st of June when the series moves to Cheshire and the track at Oulton Park. Stay tuned for more from Connor!
