The Kawasaki Z1000SX is not a bike you would expect to see at your average Donington Park track day. However, this was not an average track day for MCN Senior Road Tester Adam Child who attended a recent World of Kawasaki event feeling more worried about the contents of his panniers as he decided to take the front slot in the fast group in their 16th July 2014 edition.
Having covered around 5,500 miles on the long term test bike so far, Adam swapped the original equipment tyres for a set of the all new ContiRoadAttack 2 EVO sport touring tyres which boast improvements in mileage and even more wet grip.
Adam took the first lap to get some heat into the new tyres, which feature our fast warming, high grip Black Chili compound for excellent performance delivered quickly, even in cooler conditions. By lap two the instructor started to quicken the pace giving Adam the chance to put the new ContiRoadAttack 2 EVO through a real workout as he exited the long Coppice corner leaning on the traction control.
Following the track session Adam gave some feedback on the new tyre stating:
“In the interests of testing I’ve gone for a pair of Continental Road Attack 2 Evos.
They had a tough first outing, going straight on track at Donington Park, but they performed admirably and I had no complaints. I only managed a couple of quick-ish laps, but they coped with everything I threw at them. Even then the pegs were folding up, the tyres felt planted and impressive. It will be interesting to see how they perform on the road.”
The tyre also features our unique Traction Skin technology, and as Senior Reporter Andy Downes found out when he fitted a pair to his long term BMW R NineT commenting that “Conti doesn’t use release agents so the tyres didn’t need scrubbing in like many new tyres, so I was immediately confident with them.”
The new ContiRoadAttack 2 EVO has already been awarded the Best Buy for Country Roads and Highways by top German magazine Motorrad, regarded by many in the industry as the number one magazine for tyre tests, after topping their dry road test of seven leading sport touring tyres from major manufacturers.
