Many riders will already be familiar with Spencer Conway, whose six part series African Motorcycle Diaries aired on Travel Channel in 2015.
Charting his solo ride around the perimeter of the African continent, Spencer gave us all an interesting insight into life alone on the road, in a part of the world we probably will all admit we know very little about. He escaped from government guides, sampled some rather dodgy looking local cuisine and was even shot at – but he’s still coming back for more.
Next month Spencer will be setting out on another adventure as he rides more than 50,000 kilometres around South America – and the good news is, a new 12-part series will also be appearing on TV once he gets home which will chart his journey around the continent!
Despite the initial success of his first documentary, Spencer is staying true to his routes. He has already turned down the offer of a brand new adventure bike from two major manufacturers, instead relying on his trusty Yamaha XT660 which took him around Africa.
He heads for Bogota in Colombia on 3rd September, and will circumnavigate the continent anti-clockwise over the course of ten months passing through:
- French Guiana
For the trip Spencer will be using Continental TKC 70 tyres which combine a long service life and excellent handling on the road with genuine off-road performance, ideal for the dirt roads Spencer will encounter on his trip.
You’ll be able to follow his adventure via his new website which will be launching very soon – and we’ll also continue to share his updates via our Facebook page.
