It’s been a fantastic few days for the team at SDC Performance UK of Stevenage, after owner Gary and workshop manager Dan both celebrated winning BEMSEE championships at the Snetterton 300 circuit over the weekend.
Riding the SDC & Mike Smith Tuning Kawasaki in the Formula 400 class, Gary has been among the front runners all season – the only rider on ContiRaceAttack tyres.
With 9 wins to his name this season, Gary held a reasonable points advantage over fellow title contender Andy Gill. Due to the atrocious conditions on the Saturday all racing was cancelled, and organisers did well to get three races per class squeezed into the Sunday programme. Gary qualified in pole position, and will Gill dropping out the first race, all he needed to do was ride within himself and take as many points as possible. With that in mind, Gary brought the Kawasaki home in 3rd. Gill went on to win the second race, but with Gary taking another solid 3rd place, the damage was already done. Gill won the final race, with Gary dropping out after two laps, but he was already too far ahead in the points table to be caught.
Meanwhile, Dan had all but wrapped up the Rookie Minitwins championship after the round at Brands GP in August, with a formidable 500 points and 18 class wins from the first 7 rounds of the season on the Suzuki. After qualifying as the fastest Rookie in the field, another string of class podiums saw Dan put himself completely out of reach of the rest of the field with one more round still to go. Again, Dan was running the treaded ContiRaceAttack Comp tyres, which are becoming increasingly popular among both club racers and track day fans alike due to their outright performance and value for money.
Congratulations to everyone at SDC Performance on the great results and 2016 titles – we look forward to seeing them back in action at the big Brands finale next month!
