For the fourth year running, Continental are pleased to be supporting the West Yorkshire based RS Racing team as they contest several championships with Thundersport GB.
The team have recently returned from some pre-season testing in Cartagena, and last week unveiled their 2018 bikes to a large crowd of supporters at The Rising Sun in Norristhorpe.
After three years in the Golden Era Superbike class, and after coming so close to claiming the title last year, Ryan Strafford has swapped Honda for Yamaha as he sets his sights on the GP1 Classic championship. Ryan’s 2000 Yamaha R1 will once again be fitted with our high performance ContiTrack Slicks when it’s dry, and ContiRaceAttack Rain tyres should the weather take a turn.
One rider who has decided to stick with Honda is Andy Meachen, who made his race debut last season in the Golden Era SBK class alongside Ryan. He’ll be contesting the championship again in 2018, riding his trusty RC-51 SP1 fitted with treaded ContiRaceAttack Comp tyres.
Last year the team were joined by popular Texan rider AJ McDaniel, who will be making a guest appearance later this year when he’s back in the UK. His permanent replacement is experienced racer William Swift, who has been racing riding under the Talan Motorsport banner in previous seasons. William will join Andy in the Golden Era class, again riding a Honda RC-51.
The team’s first race of the season is at Donington next weekend, and we’ll be there to cheer them on as they get their 2018 campaign underway.
