Last week we headed out to Donington and Brands Hatch for some pre-season testing with a number of riders who were looking at choosing ContiRaceAttack tyres for their forthcoming 2014 season race campaigns.
Unfortunately our time at Donington was cut somewhat short thanks to the snow that decided to fall on the Tuesday, but once that had passed Connor Tagg of Knight Road Racing Team got the opportunity to put in a few test runs on a track which started to give some dry lines late on in the day after a spell of torrential rain, allowing Connor to notch up a time of 1.16.49 on his stock 1198R which was very positive considering the track conditions and the temperature during the day.
The team reported that they were very happy with the ContiRaceAttack Slick and Wet options, and thanks to the mixed weather they got a good chance to test out both tyres. Alan of Knight Road Racing Team said “So far the tyres do all you said – and more!”
You can catch Connor in the Thundersport GB GP1 and Superstock 1000 classes this year, with the latest updates on our website and social media as the season unfolds. The series will also be shown on Motors TV.
On Saturday we headed to Brands Hatch to work with Team Eastern Garage Racing rider Joe Muncey (pictured) as he prepared for the Bemsee Powerbike season on his new BMW S1000, his first opportunity to test it out in the dry.
Thanks to the weather conditions a number of riders came unstuck in the early sessions as grip was difficult to find, but Joe showed his maturity by taking a methodical approach to the new bike and the new ContiRaceAttack tyres as he built up his confidence and speed throughout the day. Joe will be taking the opportunity to build on the early successes of this initial test with some further rides in the near future, ready for the start of the season at Snetterton on April 5th.
