It was a great weekend at Silverstone for a number of riders supported by Steve Jordan Motorcycles, running ContiRaceAttack tyres, with plenty of exciting racing and silverware too.
After winning both the MRO and Junior Minitwins at BEMSEE in 2013 Luke Harris is now competing in the Thunderbike UK and MRO 600 championships in 2014. Luke qualified 8th on the grid for the first race of the Thunderbike UK series, 4th in class with the Extreme riders also amongst those in the starting line-up. In the first race Luke set the fastest lap in class, and picked up the places for his first win of the day as he finished top of the Thunderbike UK field. Just behind Luke and 2nd in class was fellow ContiRaceAttack user Colin Walkey, giving Continental a superb 1st and 2nd on the podium.
In the second race of the day Luke held off a strong challenge from his nearest class rivals to claim another class win and top of the podium finish. In the penultimate Thunderbike UK race of the weekend Luke then recorded a DNF, before fighting his way through the field for a well deserved 3rd in class finish and another spot on the podium. To cap the weekend off Luke was also awarded the Bob Winter Silverstone Trophy for his much improved performances in the 600 series races.
Meanwhile Michael Copley #55 of Newmick Racing was competing in the Thunderbike Extreme Rookie class and picked up a 2nd in class in the first race of the weekend, following it up with another 3rd place in class and another spot on the podium before netting two 2nd places in class and more trophies in the final rounds of the day.
The series moves on to Oulton park in Cheshire for the next round, so good luck to all riders running Continental who will be attending that. We can’t wait to see your results!
