After a productive final pre-season test at Valencia, 2015 European Classic Bike Series champions Phase One are in France preparing to defend their title by getting off to the best possible start this season.
The team have already enjoyed some real success in 2016, with a maiden trip to South Africa seeing Peter Linden and the team claim the South African TT championship on their P&M Suzuki, fitted with our ContiRoadAttack 2 CR classic race rubber.
Phase One spent some time in Spain with Peter and fellow riders Hugh Brasher and Ian Simpson getting plenty of track time, before heading off to Vallelunga for one final race before the big season opener in the south of France.
The Italian race didn’t go quite to plan after bikes returned to the pits mid-race after one caught fire on track. A real lack of organisation and subsequent confusion saw the one-time leaders playing catch-up, before disaster struck and the gearbox broke. However, Peter Linden did manage to register a fastest lap and break the class record, so they know the bike is very capable in the right hands.
The weather is the south of France is certainly better than here in the UK, and here’s hoping that it remains that way in time for the Le Mans style start on Sunday!
