Phase One will be hoping for more scenes like this at the weekend, as the team return to the Motorland Aragon Circuit to defend their European Classic Bike Series title.
After leading the Classic Bol d’Or early on last month, the team had to fight back from 32nd place after crashing out courtesy of an oil spill – which saw two other teams skittle bike and rider back to the ground after hitting the same spillage. Less than happy with 8th place overall, the team will be looking to come back strong in Spain.
Although some of the paddock may have been distracted by recent behind the scenes events which have muddied the waters as to the standings at the top of the series, it is hoped that this weekend the attention will return to the exciting 4-hours of racing we can expect to see in this hotly contested series finale.
Running two P&M Suzuki machines this weekend, both sporting a pair of ContiRoadAttack 2 CR classic race tyres, Phase One welcome the return of Ian Simpson who missed out on riding at Spa due to family reasons.
Ian will join Stephane Mertens on the #1 bike, with super-fast Swede Peter Linden linking up once again with Hugh Brasher as the team look to maximise their chances of another championship title.
Also on the grid from the UK, we’d like to wish the best of luck to Team Alf’s Motorcycles, Team RST and Neate Racing.
We’re just sorry we can’t get to Spain this year to join you all!
