Last week saw the annual migration of riders from around the world to the bike mecca that is the Isle of Man TT, with its famous 37.5 mile mountain course seen as the ultimate road racing challenge.
Competing in the Lightweight TT on the official factory entry Paton S1 Strada was Flitwick Motorcycle sponsored rider Olie Linsdell #15, no stranger to the famous Isle of Man course. The fantastic looking Paton machine normally rolls out of the factory on standard ContiRoadAttack 2 sport touring tyres. However, for the Lightweight TT the bike was supplied with ContiRaceAttack Comp. street legal race tyres which are available in soft, medium and endurance compounds as used by the likes of Dilligaf Racing who have made a 100% start to their season in 2014 after switching to Continental.
The 12th rider in the field to get underway, Olie put in a superb first lap with a 115.239mph average, less than half a minute off the lead time to put him 6th in a field of 45 riders. The second lap of the race saw a charge from Michael Russell which saw Olie drop back to 7th before a final lap of 116.310mph saw the Bedfordshire based rider retake 6th to finish less than 90 seconds off the pace of Dean Harrison who took the podium top spot. A superb performance on unfamiliar rubber!
Following the race we took the opportunity to speak with Olie to find out just what he thought of the ContiRaceAttack Comp. and it seems that he was suitably impressed! Olie commented that the Continental felt just as good as the Racetec and Supercorsa tyres that he was used to riding on, turning in just as well and matching the rival brands in terms of stability. He also went on to say that the Continental actually wore better on the mountain course than the previous tyres he has used.
You can keep up with the latest news from Olie via his Facebook page and all the team here at Continental Motorcycle in the UK would like to congratulate him on a great performance at the 2014 TT!
