For the 3rd round of the Bemsee season the riders and teams headed to Northamptonshire to the famous Silverstone circuit, with Kurtis Butler #124 racing in the MRO Minitwins Junior class on his Suzuki motorcycle shod with ContiRaceAttack Comp street legal race tyres, which he switched to at the start of his 2014 season.
After a great performance in qualifying Kurtis made 4th on the grid out of 30 riders, and after getting a great start worked his way to the front of the field before a few mistakes in a close and intense fought battle saw him finish 3rd overall and 2nd in the Junior class less than half a second behind rival Harry Truelove, the top three riders also being the only ones in the field to lap below 1:17.00.
After an overnight break Kurtis lined up for the second race of the weekend on the front row of the grid, and in another superb performance he took the first of what would be two first in class wins for the weekend, holding off challenges from fellow competitors and also coming 2nd overall in the Senior class finishing just 0.806s behind the leading rider also setting the fastest junior class lap with a 1:16.626.
The 3rd race saw Kurtis pick up a 10 second penalty for a jump start on the line, which saw him finish 9th overall and 3rd in class, setting a blistering 1:15.522 in the process to record another fastest lap in class. In the final race he went even quicker to record another fastest lap in class with a 1:15.399 to finish 1st in class and 3rd overall in the field after starting 9th on the grid. With some quick and skillful riding Kurtis showed why he is one of the up and coming talents to watch out for in the next few years!
Two class wins, some fantastic fastest laps in class and a great performance against the senior field too for Kurtis all on ContiRaceAttack Comp. street legal race tyres. The next round of the series will be at Oulton Park from 24th to 26th May, and we are looking forward to even more great results!
