Ok, so it’s not exactly a highly guarded secret that KTM we’re due to unveil their new 790 Adventure R prototype at EICMA today!
However, that didn’t stop the crowds from flocking to their stand at the annual EICMA show in Milan to feast their eyes on this potentially game-changing middleweight.
Using the same 2-cylinder LC8c engine at the new 790 Duke, the Adventure R promises to offer a lightweight, compact machine with the ability to take on even the toughest of terrains. The 105hp engine is a fully stressed part of the steel-tube frame, and if the electronics suite is anything like that found on the new Duke, it’ll be a serious contender in the middleweight market.
During the presentation, KTM stated:
“The KTM 790 ADVENTURE R PROTOTYPE is exactly what the hardcore adventure crowd wants it to be: a true KTM to close the gap between the enduros and the larger bikes of the ADVENTURE series.’”
A hardcore adventure bike needs some hardcore adventure tyres, and for their show prototype KTM selected the tried & tested Continental TKC 80, proven to work in some of most difficult conditions imaginable.
The new 790 Adventure R has been confirmed as a production model for 2019 – and we can’t wait to try one for ourselves!
