Released early in 2015, the KTM 1290 Super Adventure was billed as the ultimate adventure touring bike at it’s official launch – and it seems that the Austrian manufacturer were right as the bike has just been named as the Best Adventure Bike of 2015 by Motorcycle News.
Writing in their 14th October edition, road tester Andy Davidson describes the 1190 Adventure’s big brother as “the most powerful and advanced adventure bike ever built.”
In a group test of adventure style motorcycles from a range of manufacturers conducted by MCN on Continental tyres earlier this year, both KTM bikes finished ahead of the mighty BMW R1200GS which has long held the crown in this sector of the market. A shock result to some, Davidson gave his reasons for this, stating that “the KTM has better electronics than the BMW, is considerably quicker, lighter, more fun and better off-road.”
He went on to say that “we all agreed nothing comes close to the Super Adventure in terms of pure acceleration and touring ability. If you want to cover big mileage incredibly fast, in absolute comfort, with class-leading technology and off-road credibility, this is your weapon of choice.”
Continental’s history with KTM goes back a number of years. The two companies have worked together closely on both product development and product launches, and the KTM 1290 Super Adventure is no exception, and rolls out of the factory on our class leading ContiTrailAttack 2 adventure touring tyres – now the official tyre choice on the best adventure bike of 2015!
Congratulation to the team at KTM on winning this award, all their hard development work has clearly paid off!
