When it comes to tours of South Africa on 2-wheels, you’d be hard pushed to find someone who knows it better than Alex J Jackson of Kaapstad Tours.
A passionate motorcyclist, Alex has spent years riding the length and breadth of South Africa – and as an outspoken conservationist he has also been highlighting the problems of poaching in the area and other nearby countries.
Next month Alex will be appearing at the London Motorcycle Show, where he’ll be discussing his 10,000km solo charity ride around Southern Africa with author and rider Nathan Millward on the Adventure Stage.
Back in 2013 we helped Alex find the right tyre for his KTM 990 Adventure, aptly nicknamed ‘The Beast’ – which will be on display at the show.
With a real mixture of terrain as rode North and crossed into Zimbabwe then headed west for Botswana and Angola, Alex eventually settled on the big block TKC 80 ahead of his AJ’s Ride For Rhinos Trip.
Now Alex also has ‘Livingtone’ – his 1190 Adventure which lives in Cape Town in South Africa, and regularly switches between the TKC 80 and more road-oriented ContiTrailAttack 2 depending on the tour route he’s about to head out on.
You can find Kaapstad on Stand A80 right by the Adventure Stage at the London show, which takes place from 17th – 19th February 2017.
Although the schedule hasn’t been released yet, Alex’s talk with Nathan will take place every day during the show, so there’s no excuse to miss out!
He’ll also be on the Kaapstad stand during the day to chat about South Africa, riding, bikes (and even tyres…)
