After the phenomenal success of the inaugural Ace to Ace expedition last year, Continental partner GlobeBusters have announced that they will be operating the trip for a second this, departing April 2017.
Leaving the famous Ace Cafe in London, the trip will cover 13,000 miles over the course of 12 weeks, arriving at the recently opened Ace Cafe in Beijing.
Beijing is home to one of a growing number of officially licensed Ace Cafe premises, with other countries including Switzerland, Finland and a new cafe soon to be opened in the USA.
Those wishing to join GlobeBusters on this epic journey will need to act quickly, as visa requirements in China are extremely strict, and applications close on 31st July this year.
The route itself will see riders cross Europe and arrive in Central Asia via Turkey. There will be a unique opportunity to ride in a number of countries where the tourism industry is very much in it’s infancy, with the likes of Iran, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan all included en-route to China.
Once the group have crossed in to China, they will approach Tibet where it is possible to ride up to the North Base Camp of the world’s highest mountain, Everest.
GlobeBusters are the only company offering riders the chance to ride their own bikes overland into China via Tibet, with this expedition being led by double Guinness World Record holder Kevin Sanders. This will be Kevin’s eighth trip into China, and this time around Kevin has chosen the new Triumph Explorer XC for the journey.
“We switched to Triumph last year – I rode a 1200 Explorer on the first Ace-to-Ace expedition, with my support rider on a Tiger 800XCx, and both bikes performed without fault, even at high altitude and when filled with low grade fuel. I can’t wait to try the latest Explorer on our most testing of trips.’” comments Kevin.
For those interested in riding in China, Kevin recently wrote an article in RiDE Magazine which talks about the culture shock, and you can find out more about that here.
As the official tyre partner of GlobeBusters, our range of adventure rubber has been tested to the limits on some of the toughest terrain imaginable, with the latest TKC 70 providing an excellent blend of on and off-road performance, and the more aggressive TKC 80 ideal when the terrain gets more extreme.
