The first weekend of the club racing season is always a big event on the biking calendar, as the last signs of winter ebb away, and riders make their final preparations to their machines before lining up on the grid for the first time, hoping for big points and a place on the podium.
It was a busy weekend for all concerned at Brands Hatch, including our very own Graham Matcham, UK Continental Brand manager who was on site with A&R Racing Services, advising riders on all aspects of Continental race rubber.
With fine, dry weather everyone already felt like a winner before the 36 hotly contested races across many different classes had even started. They delivered an entertaining programme and put much pressure on the A&R racing tyre support team, with ContiRaceAttack tyres in big demand as the word continues to spread about levels of performance.
New to the Thundersport GB series in 2015 was Ryan Cooper of Coops Racing, on his 2002 Yamaha R6. After making the decision to fit our ContiRaceAttack Comp treaded race tyre, he took two 2nd places, a 3rd and a 6th in the Golden Era Supersport class, with Graham watching on, extremely impressed with his lap times and riding style. A real championship contender!
Adrian Teasdale of Carlisle also impressed on Continental rubber, taking his Triumph onto the podium four times in four races, with a string of 3rd place rides in the Streetfighter class. Adrian was also using the ContiRaceAttack Comp rubber.
It was also a great opening round for a number of other riders running Continental:
- Adam Gittings
- Joe Lawrence
- Charlie Morris
- Warren Verwey
- Ed Godfrey
- Leigh Hutchinson
- Andrew Castle
- Teo Popadopalus
Congratulations to everyone who headed down to Brands Hatch at the weekend, we’ll see you all again at Donnington in early April!
