Following a very wet, but somewhat successful debut at Oliver’s Mount earlier this month, Dilligaf Racing were once again in action at Mallory Park for round two of the Marine Fabrications Supersport Championship.
With a strong performance in the opening round, Steve sat in 2nd place in the points table behind last year’s champion Jamie Medhurst.
By morning the rain had passed, but grey skies loomed overhead as the team waited for their qualifying session, in which Steve took 4th place on the grid with a 56.73s lap.
Steve’s first race of the day was 5th on the schedule, and as the green flag fell he was caught up in the pack as they surged forward towards Gerrard’s. By the end of the lap Steve had elbowed his way back to 4th place, and was hot on the heels of 3rd place. Steve traded positions on several occasions with the #89 bike, but finished just outside of the podium places to pick up 8 championship points. The race had also unearthed a leaking fork seal, which the team attended to before the start of the second race.
After an incident in Race 12, the second of Steve’s races was shortened to a 6 lap sprint. He held onto 4th place until half way through the race, making his move at Edwina’s to take 3rd place, which is where he finished the race to pick up another trophy.
After the race the team commented; “The ContiRaceAttack tyres once again performed faultlessly with others riders enquiring as to what tyres Steve was using.”
Steve now lies in 2nd place in the championship, just two points behind 2014 champion Medhurst.
