Best KTM 1290 Superduke tyres

Working closely with KTM headquarters in Mattighofen, leading Austrian publication Motorrad Magazin have been putting five of the very latest hypersport tyres to the test.

Experienced test rider Roland Schuch found himself riding the KTM 1290 Super Duke R fitted with specialist measuring equipment and sensors provided by the Austrian bike manufacturer to get a much clearer picture of how the tyres perform under various conditions and ensure that the test was not subjective.

We are pleased to announce that the ContiSportAttack 3, which was launched last year, topped the test by achieving full marks in all areas with the results as follows:

The test was carried out at the Wachauring Circuit in Melk and the results published in the August/September issue of Motorrad Magazin, where they also had this to say:

“The CSA 3 needs two laps to get warmed-up but afterwards it is better than all the competitors. The grip at the rear tyre is really high, even higher at the front tyre.  That leads to lots of trust when cornering – exactly what you need for sporty riding. Additonal to that the turn-in is really easy, no tendency to wobble.

The CSA 3 is also the favourite tyre when it comes to wet braking: In a wet brake test the CSA 3 just needs 9% more braking distance than on dry roads – sensational!!”

Featuring our innovative Grip Limit Feedback technology, the ContiSportAttack 3 has been designed to give the rider ultimate control right to the edge of the tyre. A micro-rough Traction Skin surface, which is also unique to Continental, almost eliminates the need for scrubbing in by providing increased levels of grip from the very first metre when the tyre is brand new.

California Superbike School UK fit the ContiSportAttack 3 to their Ducati fleet which is used by both instructors and students at their various UK track schools throughout the year. The excellent performance in all conditions allows them to run sessions come rain or shine.
