Now in it’s 8th year, the annual RIDE Cymru event has helped to raise tens of thousands of pounds for charity since its inception.
This annual event sees participants cover more than 1,000 miles over the course of a five day trip, which circles the perimeter of Wales.
Last year alone, the riders helped to raise more than £13,000 for cancer charity Macmillan, taking the total for the event to date to £47,000.
This year’s ride will leave Wrexham on Thursday 2nd May, heading south to the historic town of Chepstow on the banks of the river Severn. Day two will pass through Newport, Cardiff and Swansea before arriving in Carmarthern.
Day three, which will officially be known as the ‘Continental Tyres RIDE Cymru Day 3′ leg, takes in beautiful Pembrokeshire before heading north to our hometown of Aberystwyth, where official motorcycle importer Cambrian Tyres is based.
After setting off from the promenade on the Sunday morning, it’s a beautiful trip into Snowdonia, and around the Llyn Peninsula before crossing the Britannia bridge onto the isle of Anglesey.
The final leg will take the group along the North Wales coast, hugging the Dee estuary as the head eastwards, finally arriving at the finish line in Wrexham on the bank holiday Monday.
For the fifth year running the group, which will number approximately sixty riders, will all be dressed as Evel Knievel, with many also customising their bikes in homage to the stunt riding legend.
Best of luck everyone – we’ll see you at the end of Day 3!
