In round two of the Thundersport GB GP1 series, Knight Road Racing at their rider Connor Tagg took to the track at Donington after a solid start in round one on ContiRaceAttack Slicks.
Following some early teething issues with bike setup, Connor qualified 19th for the first race on the Saturday with the bike just not feeling quite right. When taking the bike out to line up for the start of the first race it stalled and failed to restart forcing the team to change over the rear wheel onto the stock bike, with no time to change the front or alter the setup. However with all this going on Connor didn’t let it phase him, and he showed his talent by making up a total of ten places to finish in 9th position on a bike he hadn’t touched all weekend, and that hadn’t been fine tuned for the track, with some great maneuvers both inside and outside the riders in front of him!
Thanks to his time in the Saturday race, Connor started a little further up the grid on the 1st Sunday race, 15th overall. Again he got off to a good start of the Ducati stock bike, making up places from the off before getting caught in a three way battle to finish 10th overall.
In the final race of the day Connor admits he didn’t make the best of starts from the grid, but again showing his skills he moved up the field to lap consistently at around 1 minute 36 seconds, over three seconds faster than his initial qualifying time. In the final race he finished 9th overall, leaving both team and rider with three top 10 finishes. A very promising set of results after bike issues had hampered their qualifying efforts.
