In March of 2014 you will have the chance to catch up with Steve Keys and ex Red Dwarf actor and biker Danny John-Jules on their Challenge 125 journey. The guys at MotoVentures have recently signed a six episode deal that will bring their video diary of the trip to a TV screen near you.
The trip followed on from the success of their 2011 Viva Valencia trip, and again the key aim was to raise money in aid of Riders For Health. The adventure saw Steve and Danny travel 1250 miles from Goring-by-Sea to the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia for the MotoGP. Joined by a 3rd rider, George Nickless from Manchester who was selected for a huge number of entries, they completed the journey on their YBR125 motorcycles fitted with ContiGo! tyres, with just £125 to get them through the journey.
George was able to fulfill his dream of passing his full motorcycle licence after being selected to ride with them. The riding was hard and once they landed in France they were greeted by torrential rain and all kinds of bad weather, but the sun finally shone once they reached Southern France. They survived very much on the hospitality of others, and as well as promoting a good cause they also proved that you don’t need a big motorcycle and an even bigger wallet to enjoy touring the continent.
The show will air in March, and will be available on Freeview, Freesat, Sky and Virgin as well as the iPlayer. Riders For Health provides motorcycles to healthcare teams in Africa, ensuring that vital medical treatments are able to reach even the most remote communities across the continent.
