BMW R1200 GS Tyres

BMW introduced the new Touring Enduro flagship R 1200 GS at the recient Intermot motorcycle show. Exceptional performance, high speeds and the heavy weight of a fully-laden BMW R 1200 GS represent a major challenge for the tyres.

Safety, reliability and supreme quality are essential factors for bringing this riding performance to the road and these are precisely the inherent qualities offered by the newly developed ContiTrailAttack 2.

In recognition of this, the motorcycle builders from Munich have decided to equip the 2013  R 1200 GS bikes with ContiTrailAttack 2 tyres as original equipment.

The requirements set out by BMW for original equipment tyres are tough: Unsurpassed handling, top stability, high mileage and exceptional riding characteristics in all conditions – the ContiTrailAttack 2 has to deliver on all of these fronts. This is achieved with the aid of the 0° steel belt construction used on this new radial tyre.

The tyre engineers have developed new compound technology for excellent grip in all weather conditions. As a result, they have boosted the tried-and-tested Continental Black Chili compound to a new level of performance.

The design of the tyre profile also plays a vital role for its performance. The ContiTrailAttack 2 features the progressive “New Edge” design, which offers excellent water clearance, a uniform wear pattern and low rolling noise.

Continuous Compound Technology improves mileage through a wear resistant central area and progressively increasing grip levels towards the shoulder, with no sudden change in compound.

Traction Skin technology provides extremely safe and short  run-in times, this is possible due to the revolutionary micro-roughness of the tread surface which is the result of the new tyre mould coating technology which eliminates the need for tyre release agents

Just like the ContiTrailAttack 2 tyres, all other Continental radial motorcycle tyres in the Attack series are manufactured in the Korbach plant in Germany.
