Never having visited Silverstone before in his life, missing the whole of Friday practice and qualifying wasn’t ideal for Cam Harris as he battled electrical gremlins with his team in Northamptonshire at the weekend.
The rookie Minitwin rider from Cambridgeshire is certainly one to watch this year with BEMSEE, putting in a string of impressive performances in his debut season to take to the top step of the podium on several occasions already.
With almost zero track time, Cam had to start from the back of the grid as he looked to complete his first full lap of Silverstone and climb up the field.
The opening contest didn’t disappoint as Harris and his ContiRaceAttack Comp tyres quickly got to grips with the Silverstone layout, finishing in 6th place to secure a better grid position for race two.
Starting much further up the pack for the second race, Cam soon muscled his way to the front to take a well earned win, following that up with a 3rd place on the Sunday, and another win in the final contest of the weekend. He also briefly set a new class lap record although this soon fell once again as several riders went all out for the win.
In the MRO Minitwins class there was also a podium for Bedford’s Dan Singleton of SDC Performance, who took the Rookie title in 2016. After qualifying in pole position, Dan took second place in the opening race, following that up with further top five finishes.
Congratulations to Cam and Dan on their results this weekend.
Later this month the BEMSEE paddock heads to Snetterton for the 4th round of the season.
